Toyota Girl SA - Young Car Buyers Guide!
The things you don't learn from your parents, friends or from google.. so be car wise!
ALWAYS NOTE: Every 10 000 km on gage = 1 year = service due.
Anyone with a regular income, a good credit record and a drivers licence can buy a pre-owned car.
First decide on your DREAM car. Then try to source one with the best price, low mileage and year.
Shop around, without committing to giving your details, as this lowers your credit score badly.
Don't choose anything older than 5 years. Preferably 1-3 years old is the best choice.
Buy on Bank Financed terms (safest) up to 72 months, from a Reputable Car Dealer.
A balloon payment at the end of term, isn't bad. It secures financing, and can be paid off.
Source the best interest on Financing (up to 12 % fixed rates) is a good deal.
Every dealer CAN give you a discount, or throw in extras. Just ask for it!
DONT be fooled by the "Buy-back-plan" as this is confusing, and not necessary.
STICK to affordable colours, like silver or white. Black cars show scratches quicker.
Make sure it has a long Factory Warrantee Plan. A service plan is a bonus, but not needed.
You can test drive as many cars as you want, without committing to a deal, even at your home.
All vehicles are covered in the event of an accident, while test driving. (terms apply)
Every potential buyer has 48 hours to decide, without a deposit upfront, if they want to buy a car.
Its your choice and your money. Take your time when deciding what YOU want.
(Don't take out personal loans, as the interest is around 32 % compared to 12 % on financing)

Lets review a 2013 Toyota Yaris 1.3. The mileage is at 51,413 km. This is a bit high.
It had one previous owner. This model is light on fuel and very economical for daily use.
Priced at R124, 995. The minimum salary requirement would be R7000.
Approximately R2500 a month, over 72 months. This would exclude Insurance costs.
A deposit (10 %) is always recommended, as it lowers your monthly costs.
The service plan would have expired on 30 000 km, but is extendable on request.
This model has FSH, airbags, USB/AUX/CD player, child lock, central locking and AC/DC, etc.
It has extra volume buttons on the steering wheel and an on-board computer system.
The interior is roomy and comfortable. The drivers seat adjusts higher, which is a plus for short legs.
This models' gears were hard to shift, with reverse in 1st gear, and you had to floor the accelerator.
All Toyota cars drive silently, and mostly smoothly, and have good breaking systems (ABS breaks).
Replacement parts, from Toyota dealers, are affordable and recommended.
All Toyota Yaris models are sought after and scarce. Buyers usually hold onto these makes.
So, test drive your Toyota Yaris! You will love this car. Perfect for anyone, male or female.
The Toyota dealership I visited, was friendly, efficient and willingly offered advice.
